Teaching Policy

At the first lesson, a teaching policy will be covered and signed by the parent or adult student. A quick search of the web will reveal that such a lessons policy is common among teachers, most policies, mine included, include at least the following agreements accepted by the student or parent:

Cancellations: No same day cancellations, a maximum of 1 cancellation with at least 24 hour notice per month which must be made up within 7 days; note, especially that cancelled lessons do carry over into the following months tuition.

You have paid for your lesson slot, whether it is used or not is up to the student.

Tuition Payment: If the student is accepted, monthly tuition is due on the last lesson day of the mont for the next month's tuition.hly tuition based on either 4 or 5 week months (depends on the teaching day), and lastly a 3 month commitment.

Note: Any payment for lessons beyond the initial lesson implicitly acknowledges the student or parents acceptance of the short form of the Scott Music Teaching Policy, as well as the print version given to the student or parent at the first lesson.

Breaks: In unavoidable circumstances, monthly tuition (and gift certificate packages) may be put on hold to be resumed within a 2 to 3 month period. After that, the student may use the lessons, give them to a friend, but there are no refunds for unused lessons, boot-camp packages, or gift-certificates.

Discontinuation of Lessons: Requires 30 days notice and there are no refunds, you may use the lessons or not.

FAQ: May I spread out my monthly lessons over a longer period?

Answer: You may, but not at the tuition rates given to students committing to montly lessons, except in the case of some unforseen emergency; it is up to the teacher's discretion in that case.
